The British Informatics Olympiad, sponsored by Data Connection.
The final took place in Cambridge from 12-14 April 1996, and consisted of a series of written and programming problems, together with some free time and an opportunity to surf the Internet.
The best four competitors formed the team to represent Britain at the Eighth International Olympiad in Informatics, Vesprém, Hungary, from 25 July to 1 August, 1996.
